We all love burgers, chips deep-fried in oil and meat. What we surely don’t love is heart disease and obesity. Unfortunately, they are related. This is one of those scenarios where you can’t have the best of both worlds. If you indulge in fat-rich foods, heart problems are sure to follow. If you abstain from them, you shall live a dull but long life. But what do fats do to cause all of this?
Fats aren’t easily broken down by the body, unless there is a shortage of carbohydrates. Fats form layers in the body, which causes obesity. Moreover, they trap heat, which makes summers unbearable for obese people. But what is even more terrifying is that they can kill you.
Fats can block or narrow blood arteries that carry oxygenated blood. As a result, there is a higher blood pressure on the narrowed arteries, which can cause them to burst. Narrowed arteries also cause problems such as angina pectoris. If the artery is completely blocked, a person can suffer a heart attack or a stroke, with death quite imminent.
Under such devastating outcomes, it is wise to refrain from fats or eat them in minimum quantities.
